Located to the east of Longwood and separated by U.S. Highway 17-92, Winter Springs is a city on the rise. Its growth rivals that of Oviedo.
In the past two decades, population has increased 800 percent. And more growth is on the way, with residential and commercial developments regularely being announced.
Located north of Orlando in Seminole County Winter Springs is one of the newer municipalities and is the largest in real estate land area. When incorporated in 1959, the name was Village of North Orlando.
Experiencing an almost 800 percent increase in population since 1970, to over 31,666 residents (year 2000, ) the present onset of commercial and industrial real estate development, which had been wholly residential throughout the 1970's, gives evidence of a new trend for the city.
From charming condos, villas and townhouses to luxury estate homes, to "country." The city's close proximity to major employment centers, such as the University of Central Florida and Heathrow International Business Center, combined with a sizable amount of undeveloped land, make it an attractive site for that construction, as well as for recreational pursuits.
Parks and golf courses are particularly prevalent. Examples are Central Winds Park, a 58 acre preserve off State Rd 434 on the shores of Lake Jessup, and the Tuscawilla Country Club. Winter Springs has a population of 29,220 and is 15 square miles.
With it’s small-town quality and close proximity to gorgeous east-coast beaches, and the “near, but not too near” big-city Orlando cultural events and the entertainment of giant theme parks, this is an idyllic place to call home.
